Glamping Site

SURPRISE – if you’re new here .. we’re building a glamping site.

Not too long ago, I shared our plans with you all.. and since then haven’t given many updates. SO- for those of you interested and hoping to come stay one day, here’s a little backstory for you .. aaaand our (current) grand plan.

Back when Blake was in medical school, we knew the career path he was taking had us more or less locked in to a certain lifestyle and future. After he dropped out .. we reevaluated what we REALLY wanted. A happy and fulfilling life for us entailed: Spending as much time outside as possible with our family. Building a career that allows us to be as involved as humanly possible with our children. Diversifying (not only working on social media.. and setting ourselves up to walk away from social media should we ever feel the need.) Potentially building something tangible that we could pass down to our kids one day. Working with our hands. Living more simply.

The idea of a glamping site has always seemed like a DREAM .. but in the past it didn’t make much sense for us. The Lord has truly opened up so many doors for us since moving to North Carolina though. Gradually, we realized that we were in the perfect position to make this dream a reality. We looked for properties for over a year until we found the perfect one, put in an offer, and had it ACCEPTED!!!

We do currently have a long road ahead of us. As of last night, we were notified our site-plan is all approved to go (we’ve been waiting on this news for almost a year now!!!) We are now officially in the beginning stages of building. We are starting with roads, river crossings, and a barn. Once those are complete- we can get started on our structures!!! We PRAY we will be able to welcome guests from all over the world to our little slice of heaven here in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the next 2 years or so (pls pray with us because this process is loooong hahah.) Blake is doing as much of the hands-on work as possible, so it just feels even more special.

Our beautiful 50 acre property is home to a rushing river flowing throughout, quaint brooks, an open meadow, a large fishing pond, and an old logging road leading up to a view of the surrounding mountains. It feels like a story book. Helene caused a lot of property damage, but we’ve been working hard to clear trees and beautify the last few months. 🙂 When you come to visit, I truly do hope that it feels like a step back in time and a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

Please stay patient with us while we work our way through this process (we aren’t 100% sure what we’re doing yet but we’re learning A LOT.) Ahhh we can’t WAIT to have you!!!!
